Of Hamburg, NY, born August 9, 1928 to December 27, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Richard Basil Auer; loving daughter of the late George and Helen Thompson; dearest sister of the late Marjorie T. (late Edwin) Smeeding; special Aunt Ruth of Margaret Smeeding (Greg) Lund, Christine (Joseph) Wells, Thomas (Diane) Smeeding, John (Debra) Smeeding, James (Anne Van Kleek) Smeeding, Timothy (Marcy Carlson) Smeeding, Mary Ann Laubacher, Patricia (late David) Auer, Madeline (James) Budde, Zachary Kilga, Kathy Auer Mascio, Michael Auer, Lauren Smeeding (Chris) Gibson, Nicholas (Megan) Smeeding, Shari (Michael) Kozminski, Bonnie (James) Ryan, David (Robyn) Wells, Karen (Lawrence) Finnigan, Judy (Andrew) Hurley, Janet (Scott) Myers, Laurie (David) Zak, Robert (Alyssa) Auer, Erin Smeeding, Patrick Smeeding, Joseph Smeeding, Finnian Smeeding, James Auer, and Ryan W. Smeeding; also survived by many more nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great-grand nieces and nephews, and four great-great-grand nieces and nephews; godmother of 14 godchildren, survived by many, many, dear old and new friends such as Antoinette LiPuma, Joan Keohane, Harriet Baschman, Marcella Momberger, Mary Alice Hottum, and Peggy Kessler; and her loving cat the late Toughy. The family will be present on Friday from 2-4 and 6-9PM at the (Hamburg Chapel) JOHN J. KACZOR FUNERAL HOME, INC. 5453 Southwestern Blvd. (Corner of Rogers Rd. 646-5555) and where prayers will be said on Saturday morning at 9:15AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Bernadette's Church, 5930 South Abbott Rd., Orchard Park, NY 14127. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Dr. Auer was a longtime educator and administrator within the Buffalo and West Seneca School District as a teacher, principal, director of elementary education, and assistant superintendent. Dr. Auer was a member of the NYS Art Teachers Association, School Administrators of NYS, and Altar and Rosary Society at St. Bernadette's. Memorial donations may be made to the Burchfield Penney Art Gallery, Centennial Art Center, Buffalo State College Art Department, Sacred Heart Academy, and St. Bernadette's Church.
